My Artist Statement:
a Void
a Gap:
Into which art takes place.
My role is to activate this space provoking my audience to respond. This provocation draws the audience, the art and myself into a synergistic relationship that can have variable outcomes.
Photography, text, painting, sound, film, markmaking and performance all play their part in my art. The ideas that drive my practice have evolved both consciously and unconsciously through readings, social observation and interactions .
My cross media approach has been inspired and infused by a revolving door of contemporary artists each of whom has been embraced to varying degrees of intensity. This promiscuous approach has served me well to maintain my work in a fluid position in the art world.
The uniting thread running through my art is that life’s energy is triumphant.
